Nam Phueak Dams Hydropower info - by Hobo Maps - Go to Hydropower Projects Page - - - HOME

Also spelled Nam Pheuk & Nam Peuk. Nam Phueak is pronounced like "Nam Puek".

Nam Phueak Dam Hydropower project is located in Xaysoboun Province, Lao PDR, just south of Xieng Khouang Province with its many hydropower projects under development by Phongsubthavy Group with plans for export of their output to Vietnam.

It seems there may be two Nam Phueak hydropower projects. Nam Phueak 1 as a 20 MW project and Nam Phueak 2 as 15 MW. But Google Maps only has one titled Nam Phueak. For this web page we will assume there is only one under construction. Both will probably have plans for export of output to Vietnam.

Nam Phueak HPP may be located at coordinates - 18°59'05.4"N 103°46'31.2"E (18.984833, 103.775333) as seen in the satellite image below, but this location is provided by a Google Map user and hasn't been confirmed.

Looks like Nam Phueak HPP is about 40 km from the Vietnam border and ony 20 km away from joining the 220 kV export transmission line of the Nam Mo Cluster.

Can't see any clear hydropower facilities on satellite image below. Linfar waterfall is nearby and a weir can be seen at the bottom of the image.

We suspect Phongsupthavy Group may be involved with this Nam Phueak project since it is grouped as being in the "Nam Mo Cluster" by the Vietnamese government along with other Phongsupthavy Group projects in a news report as follows - "Nam Mo cluster (Nam Mo 2A – 15 MW; Nam Pung – Nam Kiao – 20 MW; Nam Say – Nam Boak – Nam Yeim – 29 MW; Nam Pheuk – 20 MW, Nam Pheuk 2 – 15MW; Houay Kao ban – 22.5 MW)."

Lots of assumptions and unconfirmed regarding this project on this web page and sad there is almost no public info available.
