Nam Long 2 Hydropower project is located on the Nam Long (river) about 25 km southwest of Muang Sing town and 15 km northeast of Xieng Kok town in Long District, Luang Namtha Province, northern Lao PDR.

The Nam Long 2 hydropower project is a run-of-river type. The installed capacity of the project is 9.5 MW. The estimated annual output of 47 GWh is to be supplied to EDL into the local Luang Namtha grid.

The project site is located near coordinates 20°56'49.5"N 100°51'14.1"E (20.947083, 100.853917) as seen in image below.

In late 2023 it was announced that Nam Long 2 was just beginning construction. We're not sure but Nam Long 2 HPP may be owned by Nam Long Power Co., Ltd. which was established between Luangpaseuth Construction Sole Co., Ltd. and Electricite du Laos for the Nam Long 1 HPP which has already been completed and is in full operation.

China-based Sinohydro is the main contractor for the construction phase.

The project operates under a 30 year concession from the Lao government pursuant to a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer arrangement.

The power station has a design head of 120 meters

This project includes overflow dams, sand sluices, surge wells, pressure steel pipes, and diversion tunnel lining projects.
